Day 082: Hour by hour challenge

I saw an hour-by-hour challenge posted in one of my photography groups, and thought it would be such an amazing idea. Sometimes I find it difficult to capture those small details or those “every day” moments. But when I know that I’m capturing them in a story, I feel more free to capture those things.

The way the light hits the walls in the upstairs hallway in the morning, the way the light streams into the boys room and illuminates their toys. How bright and colorful the kids’ plates look in a bright white sink. These are moments I wouldn’t normally capture, but they really help to pull the story of the day together.

Our living room already gets fantastic light, and I photograph there quite a bit. But rather than wait for a moment to strike, I just shot, and shot, and shot. I personally love a truly candid photo, so these photos are extra special to me.

As silly as it seems, I love being able to look back at these days. I know how quickly they grow. Maddox is going to be out of his crib soon and into a big boy bed. He’s not going to have those tiny dimples on his hands, and he’s not going to sit on the couch next to his three stuffed puppy dogs.

One day, there won’t be toys all over the floor. And as glorious as that sounds right now, I know I’ll miss it in the future. I mean, wayyyy in the future, but still. I love my boys, and I really enjoyed capturing our day in this way. I definitely want to do it again soon!
