Day 055: Chubby Toddler Hands

I let the boys play after school let out, on another unseasonably warm “winter” day. I was trying to coax a photo out of Maddox, by pointing out the pine cone on the ground. I knelt down on the ground to take a photo, and he just sat right down in my lap – as he always does.

It’s not a fancy photo. But I really love that I can see his chubby little toddler hands holding onto that pine cone, while wearing his camo pants, and jacket that doesn’t match.

And as gross as it is, I sorta wanted to capture that crusty toddler face – complete with boogies. I am LOVING these everyday moments. I love how when the big kids play kickball, Maddox stands right in the middle of the game. He pretends to run the bases. He pretty much just gets in the way. And all the older kids are so great with him – they “pitch” the ball to him so he can kick, they cheer when he runs – it’s heart warming!

After the kids are in bed, and I’m going over my images from the day, it’s a little easier to forget about the screaming and the fighting, and focus on the good. The further we get into the year, the more I appreciate these images.
